Fondazione FAIR presents its research to IGE-Italian Gaming Expo

A shared model for Safer Gambling research and studies is also essential in Italy

Rome, 18 April 2024 - Fondazione FAIR was recently set up by Sisal to promote a new study and research-based approach to Safer Gambling. Today, it is presenting the results of its first study at a round table entitled “A New Approach to Safer Gambling” as part of IGE - Italian gambling Expo, taking place in Rome (18-19 April).

The study was conducted by consultancy firm OC&C, and examined the global market landscape and tools involved in Safer Gambling with the aim of identifying and analysing global best practices, and assessing potential opportunities for the Italian market.

During the presentation, Luigi Nicola Serravalle (Partner) and Giorgio Crainz (Associate Partner) of OC&C mapped the results of the study into the world's leading safer gambling approaches. The study highlighted the lack of a single, accessible model of shared independent research and analysis in Italy. The present-day panorama is in fact extremely fragmented, with only partial, isolated initiatives.

Sen. Elena Murelli (Lega); Hon. Alessandro Cattaneo (Forza Italia) and Hon. Mauro Del Barba (Italia Viva) commented on the findings of the study.

“First and foremost, we felt the need to bridge the current knowledge gaps in the field of Safer Gambling, in order to provide shared data and know-how,” said Matteo Caroli, Chairperson of Fondazione FAIR. “In Italy there are no independent Foundations dedicated to safer gambling: Fondazione FAIR aims to promote a gambling culture that focuses on prevention, as well as respecting and protecting people, by developing areas of scientific research and studies.

We intend to promote partnerships and studies with external specialists so we can adopt a multidisciplinary approach that is open to debate with all concerned.”

FAIR's participation in the two-day event at IGE reiterates the Foundation's commitment to fostering culture and awareness on safer gambling, as well as promoting constructive dialogue with public organisations, trade professionals and social stakeholders for listening, research and innovation in safer gambling.

Tomorrow, Friday 19 April, Fondazione FAIR will again be taking centre stage at the IGE with a panel session entitled “Responsible gambling, from Digital Innovation to Artificial Intelligence.” The event will examine how digital innovation and artificial intelligence overlap in safer gambling, highlighting ethical implications, regulatory challenges and the potential for player protection in an evolved and aware gambling environment.

The moderator will be journalist and reputation manager Daniele Chieffi, who is also a lecturer and CEO of The Magician and Co-founder of Ailyn. Speakers will include Maurizio Benzi, Head of Digital Strategy at Casaleggio Associati; Stefano Mainetti, Co-director of the Cloud Transformation Observatory School of Management at Politecnico Milano; Emanuela Girardi, Chairperson of PopAi, and Stefano De Vita, Managing Director of Fondazione FAIR.
