A future in which every player feels safe, conscious and respected.

Gambling involves an ever-increasing number of people in Italy. It is against this backdrop that Fondazione FAIR has set itself the mission of acting as a guide for positive change. With over 23 million players in Italy, we recognise the urgent need to tackle the phenomenon head on, with a sense of responsibility and an innovative approach.

Understanding the present-day scenario

We are actively committed to studying and understanding the gambling phenomenon in Italy, and to analysing player behaviour through research projects run in conjunction with universities, research institutes and professionals. We want to foster awareness of the situation we are facing with data and scientific evidence: only by acquiring knowledge can we attempt to create new means of preventing and reducing potential damage associated with gambling.

Protecting players

We analyse player behaviour in depth, proposing innovative solutions and instruments to avoid unsustainable gambling. For us, gambling should be a positive experience for every player: safety is at the core of our thinking about the gambling experience.

Supporting prevention

We actively promote prevention activities, drawing on successful experiences throughout Europe. We seek to mitigate negative effects by implementing innovative solutions and preventive measures while respecting the responsibility individuals have for their own actions, and recognising the responsibility of service providers.

Fostering innovation for safer gambling

We promote the development of new technologies and approaches that help safer gambling practices to grow. For instance, introducing elements based on nudge theory might help promote responsible behaviour, encouraging informed choices without restricting individual freedom. This approach emphasises the importance of intelligent design ('choice architecture') and innovative instruments to guide players towards more informed and sustainable decisions.

Working together for positive change

We acknowledge that true transformation calls for stakeholders across the board to work together. We invite stakeholders to join us in promoting safer gambling, supporting initiatives that put player protection at the centre and developing instruments for evaluating and measuring the effectiveness of initiatives.
